Balancing Life's Demands

“Balancing Life’s Demands” Luke 10:38-42 I. Why are we so busy? 1. We want to please others. (look good) 2. We are fearful of others. 3. We are presented with a myriad of opportunities. 4. We are caught up in success. II. Why is it our enemy? A. Stress Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?” Psalm 127:2 “It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.” B. Frustration C. Tired Psalm 127: 1, 2 “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.” Hebrews 4:3 “For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said, ‘As I swore in my wrath, they shall not enter my rest,’ although his works were finished from the foundation of the world.” D. Troubled III. What can we do about it? Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” 1. Healing with Jesus 2. Learning from Jesus Ephesians 4:1 “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called…” 3. Finding rest in Jesus Psalm 127:2 “It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep.”
